At BBN we design, build, and implement complex, real-time, distributed, multi-processor systems that give their hosts abilities above and beyond normal limitations.
For example, BBN provides the U.S. Navy's acoustic-homing-torpedo development program with algorithm design and implementation, software and hardware integration, and middleware development, all of which enable them to perform at a level above any in the past. We also apply our Distributed, Real-time, Embedded (DRE) technology to such complicated problems as real-time mission replanning between fighter aircraft and command-and-control aircraft, and to the complex problem of multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in cooperative surveillance and time critical, target-tracking situations.Our DRE technology is advanced and flexible enough to have wide application to many areas. These advances employ innovations in aspect-oriented programming, component-based construction, and adaptive middleware that enable us to build DRE systems that perform to strict quality-of-service (QoS) requirements in hostile and changing environments.
