BBN is developing advanced software engineering technology for the development of distributed, real-time, embedded (DRE) applications. BBN is developing technology in aspect-oriented programming, components, and middleware that enables the construction by composition of DRE systems with strict quality of service requirements. PCES has already been applied in two live flight demonstrations. The first demonstration included real-time mission replanning between two aircraft. The second live flight was a capstone demonstration in Spring 2005 that included multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), ground weapons systems, and command and control systems in a cooperative surveillance and target tracking demonstration.
